BMW M2 Police Car Looks Like It Was Born For The Job

German tuner AC Schnitzer is always down with the Polizei. Every year, the performance car company builds a special model along with the German police and transport ministry under the government’s Tune it! Safe! campaign.

This year it’s a very hot BMW M2. The eighth car in the series and one of the coolest yet, the build is meant to show off that you can go ultra-fast while tuning your car in a way that is safe. And, in Germany, legal.

The Polizei graphics, blue, silver, and yellow, are the first thing that will get your attention. That’s exactly the point, because it’s a copy of the graphics they use on actual police cars to patrol highways like the country’s Autobahns and their legendary speed limit-free stretches.

Here are five key differences between the 2025 BMW M2 and the outgoing 2024 BMW M2.

A light bar with a message board on the roof is the next most obvious sign this car is coming after you. If that’s not enough, there are blue flashing lights on almost every surface of the car. On the inside, a controller for the lights and the Halt Polizei hand-held flashing sign finish off the police arrangements.

But the car, which will be used for the nationwide legal and safe tuning campaign, isn’t just about its cool graphics. It’s also about showing off what AC Schnitzer can do to make its cars go faster within the legal framework.

560 Horsepower Make This German Smokey Ultra Fast

The M2’s 3.0-liter inline-six is modified from the stock 473 horsepower. Schnitzer’s ACS2 Sport engine management overhaul brings the power levels up to 560 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The new engine cover makes it look like it’s even quicker and gives the cops something to show off when the hood is up. Further back, the build includes a new exhaust with carbon tailpipes and a control valve to make it louder or quieter as needed.

AC Schnitzer RS suspension has remotely adjustable rebound and compression damping, along with various settings for ride height. The system was tested on the Nürburging, so this cop car will keep up with you in the bends as well as on the straights. 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels are lighter than stock. They’re also fitted with Hankook tires for more grip than those from the factory, but crucially, the big wheels offer more style.

While the engine fights to push that big light bar down the road, Schnitzer’s aero kit tries to help keep it on the ground. The front splitter adds 120 lbs of downforce along with the new front grille and canards on the sides of the bumper. The big rear wing and roof spoiler add another 160 lbs of push the car to the pavement.

It’s cool, it’s fast, and it’s legal. The third part of that might be the most important to the campaign, but good luck ignoring the first two parts. It’ll look great next to past tuner cars like the Tune It Safe i4 and unusual i8, both of which look just as much the part despite being electric.
