7. 2025 Kia EV9

Named Edmunds’ Top Rated “Best of the Best” in 2024, the Kia EV9 is a truly special, atypical EV. As the site explains, to get a three-row SUV EV, you’d normally have to shell out for a luxury brand.

Fortunately, you’ll pay much less for the EV9 than its high-end comparables, but get just as much in size and seating. You’ll also get one heck of a car that’s chock-full of practical and comfortable features.

The Mustang Mach-E offers both flair and functionality by mixing the legendary Mustang moniker with cutting-edge electric performance. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the 2025 year model, however, as enthusiasts wait for release notes.

We can assume that forthcoming Mach-E will improve on the already impressive range, battery capacity, infotainment system and assist features that earned it a spot on Car and Driver’s 2024 Editors’ Choice list.

5. Ford F-150 Lightning

F-150 owners are a devoted group. However, it’s not surprising that America’s most popular vehicle has a successful EV version that is gaining momentum with staunch Ford truck lovers, as the Lightning is similar to its F-150 internal combustion counterpart in looks and performance.

With an EPA range between 240 and 320 miles depending on model and battery, MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year in 2023 packs plenty of muscle.

4. 2025 Lucid Air

It’s hard to say that spending over $71,000 on an EV is worth every penny, but Lucid’s luxury sedan has continues to raise the bar for efficiency, range and performance. There’s simply lots to love about the Air.

According to MotorTrend, every 2025 Air model will come loaded with Lucid’s DreamDrive Premium Advanced Driver Assistance System and will be more efficient — requiring less energy to go further — than any other vehicle on the planet.

3. 2025 Volvo EX30

According to Kelley Blue Book, the EX30 is the quickest Volvo ever made and is one of the most affordable EVs on the market.

2. 2025 Tesla Model 3

Although it’s market share has fallen over the past five years, Tesla still dominates the EV landscape. The Tesla Model X depreciates the least of any EV over a one-year period, per TopSpeed, and the Y is easily the best selling EV in the U.S., the Model 3 is a more affordable option.

The performance, range and cutting-edge technology of the 3 have kept it among the top-selling EVs in the world and the 2025 version will continue to impress buyers throughout next year.

1. 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6

Until we know more about Hyundai’s forthcoming 3-row EV SUV initially called the Ioniq 7 (now named the Ioniq 9), the Ioniq 6 will have to lead this group.

According to Edmunds, the Ioniq 6 is one of the most efficient EVs they’ve tested, bettering the “estimated 270 miles of range with a whopping 303 miles on a single charge.”

Universally acclaimed, the Ioniq 6 is unbeatable among non-luxury EVs.
